Windows Vista - iPhone Comaptible???

Earlier this year Windows Vista adopters were in for a rude shock when they found their iPods were not supported by the new OS. Checking at the iPhone requirements posted on various sites it seems Windows Vista again does not make a cut
- Mac: Mac with a USB 2.0 port, Mac OS X 10.4.8 or later
- PC: Windows PC with a USB 2.0 port and Windows XP Home or Professional (Service Pack 2)
(Notice the conspicuous absence of an “or later” in the Windows specs?)

Domino Cellphone Concept

We love us some cellphone concepts around here, and Syntes Studio's Domino phone is no exception. The dialing buttons are setup with domino dots to designate value, as opposed to the primitive, fashionless numeric system. Plus, it's super sleek and thin, just like your favorite anorexic super model (but sexy).
We especially like that you get five extra phones with each purchase, just so you can set them up to fall. Hit the jump for some more shots.

How companies got their names

Google The name started as a joke boasting about the amount of information the search-engine would be able to search. It was originally named 'Googol', a word for the number represented by 1 followed by 100 zeros. After founder’s -Stanford graduate students Sergey Brin and Larry Page presented their project to an angel investor, they received a cheque made out to 'Google'.
Corel The name was derived from the founder's name Dr.Michael.
Compaq This name was formed by using COMp, for computer,
and PAQ to denote a small integral object.
Cisco It is not an acronym as popularly believed. It is short for San Francisco.
Apple Computers It was the favorite fruit of founder Steve Jobs. He was three months
late in filing a name for the business, and he threatened to call his company
Apple Computers if the other colleagues didn't suggest a better name by 5 o'clock.

Microsoft Coined by Bill Gates to represent the company that was devoted to MICRO computer SOFT ware. Originally christened Micro-Soft, the '-' was removed later on.

Lotus (Notes) Mitch Kapor got the name for his company from 'The Lotus Position'
or 'Padmasana'. Kapor used to be a teacher of Transcendental
Meditation of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi.
Intel Bob Noyce and Gordon Moore wanted to name their new company
'Moore Noyce' but that was already trademarked by a hotel chain so
they had to settle for an acronym of INTegrated ELectronics.
Hewlett Packard Bill Hewlett and Dave Packard tossed a coin to decide whether the company they founded would be called Hewlett-Packard or Packard-Hewlett.
Hotmail Founder Jack Smith got the idea of accessing e-mail via the web from a
computer anywhere in the world. When Sabeer Bhatia came up with the business
plan for the mail service, he tried all kinds of names ending in 'mail' and finally settled
for hotmail as it included the letters "html" – the programming language
used to write web pages.
It was initially referred to as HoTMaiL with selective uppercasing.

Yahoo! The word was invented by Jonathan Swift and used in his book 'Gulliver's Travels'.
It represents a person who is repulsive in appearance and action and is barely human.
Yahoo! Founders Jerry Yang and David Filo selected the name because they considered themselves yahoos.
SUN Founded by 4 Stanford University buddies, SUN is the acronym for Stanford University Network. Andreas Bechtolsheim built a microcomputer; Vinod Khosla recruited him and Scott McNealy to manufacture computers based on it, and Bill Joy to develop a UNIX-based OS for the computer.
Sony It originated from the Latin word 'sonus' meaning sound, and 'sonny' a slang used by Americans to refer to a bright youngster.
ORACLE Larry Ellison and Bob Oats were working on a consulting project for the CIA(Central Intelligence Agency). The code name for the project was called Oracle (the CIA saw this as the system to give answers to all questions or something such). The project was designed to help use the newly written SQLcode by IBM. The project eventually was terminated but Larry and Bob decided to finish what they started and bring it to the world. They kept the name Oracle and created the RDBMS engine. Later they kept the same name for the company.
Motorola Founder Paul Galvin came up with this name when his company started manufacturing radios for cars. The popular radio company at the time was called Victrola.

Samsung i620 the successor of the i600

Speculations are rife about what the new Samsung i620 will be. The rumors tout it to be an upped i600. The i620 photos are out and the prominent features allow us to gauge that this slick slider phone has looks to match its style. This QWERTY phone is said to feature two cameras (one with 2 megapixel and photo light). It will be a triband GSM/GPRS/EDGE phone as well as supporting UMTS. Windows Mobile 6, WiFi and Bluetooth support are speculated and not confirmed.

"The Global Certification Forum (GCF) lists two versions of the new phone: the Samsung SGH-i620 and the SGH-i620V (V = Vodafone like the SGH-i600V is the Vodafone version of the i600?) and confirms, that both devices are triband GSM (900/1800/1900 MHz) only but also confirms support for HSDPA (UTRA FDDI) and video telephony." This spells out good news for Europeans but bad news for Americans since it's not quadband.

Nokia 6500 Slide

Apart from the form factor the 6500 Slide has a couple of improvements over the 6500 Classic. The Slide has a bigger display at 2.2 inches supporting 16 million colors at 240 x 320 pixels, 3.2 Megapixel camera with Carl Zeiss optics, TV out jack, Internal memory has been reduced to 20MB thanks to the MicroSD card slot and FM Radio.

Nikon 360 Degrees Digital Camera concept

All those who think, sleep, eat and talk photography and even those who just like clicking pictures without any know-how, here is a camera that will blow your mind. I haven’t been very successful at understanding its features, the shape and its purpose but ill spill the beans anyways, just in case you get it. If you want to paint a pretty picture, with your camera as the brush then capturing that panoramic view to the best abilities of both the photographer and the camera becomes indispensable. That explains the invention of Nikon 360 degrees digital camera. Based on an ergonomic cylindrical form lens, the 360 is a camera that allows you take an all-round picture. An angle indicator provides a gauge on the direction of the rotating head and is also an additional detail to provide the camera with a stronger and steadier feel while in operation.

It has been designed by Ye Chen and is really lucid when it comes to the user interface. The main operating function designed as a touch sensor. I approve (not that my approval was needed) of its functionality but the shape (according to me) is ghastly. There should be something done about the aesthetics.
